A few weeks ago, we received an inquiry about a security ID document project. This project is very big. If we accept it, it could become one of the annual projects.
Our first reaction was simple: “That sounds great, let’s learn more about it. ” As we talked more and more, something felt wrong. The customer cannot provide authorization documents. They do not have any qualifications to prove they are qualified.
When we asked for more details about the project, the answers were unclear. In the end, we said no to the project.
Some people may find this strange. They might think, “Business is business, right? “This is not always the case. In the fields of secure ID documents, it is impossible for us to accept every order. This happens more frequently than people think.
As a supplier of optical security identification for ID cards and documents, we receive inquiries from around the world every day. Most of them are legal.
Companies want to protect their brand products. Organizations want to protect their important documents. Governments need reliable, advanced security materials. These are the types of projects we want to support.
Sometimes we receive requests that cause concern. Just like someone trying to make a fake national ID card. People who want a driver’s license that looks exactly like a real driver’s license. People who asked us to copy sensitive certificates.
Sometimes they say it’s for testing. Sometimes they say they need a sample. Sometimes they tell us, “Price doesn’t matter. ” For us, the answer is always the same. We will not do this without authorization. No matter how big or attractive the order may seem.
Why do we require qualification documents?
This is probably one of the most common questions we receive from new customers. “Why do you need our documents?”
The reason is simple. Optical anti-counterfeiting products are different from other products. When a project involves a brand logo, sensitive data, and ID cards, we need to know who is requesting the project and whether they have the authority to do so.
For commercial projects, we may require the following documents:
- business license
- Trademark Registering Certificate
- Brand authorization letter
- Project authorization document
For government bidding projects such as ID cards and travel documents, we need to check qualification documents more strictly.
These inspections are not intended to create problems. They were established to ensure that brand and ID document products are used only for legitimate and authorized purposes.
Compliance Is Part of Security
When people think about anti-counterfeiting technology, they usually think about holograms, optical effects, micro text, fiber encryption, or other advanced features.
Those technologies are important. We work with them every day. But there is another layer of security that often receives less attention – compliance.
A security feature is only valuable when it remains under proper control.
If security materials can be supplied to anyone without verification, then even the most advanced technology loses part of its purpose. That’s why we believe compliance is not separate from security. It is part of security.
What Customers Should Look for in a Supplier
Here are some things worth thinking about. If suppliers do not require authorization documents, do not check whether projects are legal, and are willing to make some sensitive ID documents products for anyone who pays, what about their standards?
When choosing an optical anti-counterfeiting provider, don’t just look at the price. Look at certification (ISO9001 and ISO27001), project experience, technical capabilities, and whether suppliers have their own independent R & D capabilities and core equipment. These things are more important than people think.
These factors are often more important than people realize. We covered this topic in detail in another article and Short Video, so if you want to explore further, I’ll leave the link below. Four key points to choosing a reliable anti-counterfeiting company.
Say No to Some Order (Such as Fake IDs)
Turning down business is never enjoyable. Every company wants to grow. Some things are not worth doing. For us, we don’t make any fake IDs. We will not compromise on compliance standards for money.
In the optical security identification industry, compliance always comes first. That’s what helps build trust and makes long-term cooperation possible.
