Suzhou Image Technology organized this event. It aimed to review the development of China’s optical security industry over the past four decades. It also showcased the scientific research and artistic achievements related to holographic technology and promoted exchanges between the academic and industrial sectors.

Over the past four decades, China’s holographic and optical anti-counterfeiting industry has undergone a process from academic research and experimental exploration to technological application and industrialization development.

University research teams and industry practitioners have been continuously exploring micro-nano optics, holographic imaging, and intelligent anti-counterfeiting technologies, promoting the continuous development of related technologies and accumulating rich experience in practical applications.

This exhibition and the accompanying exchange activities were not only a review of this development process but also a vision for future technological exploration and industrial cooperation.

This private salon invited scholars from universities in the field of holography and 3D display, as well as representatives from enterprises in the optical anti-counterfeiting and packaging industries, to jointly discuss multiple cutting-edge topics, including:

  • Research and exploration in brain holography
  • The relationship between holographic imaging and art
  • Advances in large-format, high-performance holographic diffractive devices and their applications
  • True 3D holographic display technologies and their future development
  • Large-viewing-angle, high-resolution 3D light-field displays
  • Advanced lithographic mastering technologies
  • Realistic 3D window holographic displays
  • The evolution of embossed optical packaging and anti-counterfeiting technologies

Some discussions focused on basic research, while others looked at new technologies and their practical uses.

Participants shared their research, technical progress, and industry experience. They also discussed the challenges of turning new ideas into real products and applications.

Industry leaders shared their experiences in product development, technological innovation, and market applications. Their discussions showed how new technologies could improve products and support the industry’s growth.

Roundtable Discussion: Exploring Holography Across Disciplines

The roundtable discussion started with the physics of holography and moved on to other ideas, including holographic biology, holographic views of the universe, holographic philosophy, and holographic healing.

Experts and scholars participate in a roundtable discussion on holography and interdisciplinary research

People from different academic and professional backgrounds shared their views, raised questions, and discussed the research value and possible applications of these ideas.

The discussion also explored how the concept of holography was understood and used in different fields, beyond its traditional technical applications.

To close the day’s discussions, Professor Yu Chongxiu of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications gave a concluding speech, sharing his thoughts on the day’s discussions and key takeaways.

Bringing Research, Art, and Industry Together Through Light

Exhibits and art works were showcased at Holo Image Art Space. The venue gave visitors a chance to experience holography through art and technology, while connecting with people working in different fields.

The exhibition and salon kept guests engaged from morning until late evening. There were plenty of technical discussions, new ideas, and reunions among longtime colleagues.

Exhibition guests gather at Huanxiu Xiaozhu for an evening dinner and informal discussions about the future of the optical security industry

In the evening, guests gathered at Huanxiu Xiaozhu for a more relaxed get-together. They enjoyed Suzhou pingtan, along with Shaoxing rice wine and Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs. Conversations about the industry’s future continued over dinner.

Looking Ahead

Forty years of development have laid a strong foundation for China’s optical security industry.

The Holography Technology Art Works Exhibition and private salon brought people together to share their work, exchange ideas, and explore what’s next for holography.

For us at Suzhou Image Technology, it was a pleasure to welcome so many scholars, industry professionals, and international guests to Suzhou.

The conversations throughout the day showed just how much there was to explore when research, art, and industry came together.

And as the gathering came to an end, one thing was clear: there was still plenty to discover in holography and optical security, and many more conversations worth having.
