Optical laminate pouches are high-security protective materials widely used in sports events, large conferences, summits, concerts, and parking management. For example, at the 2024 Paris Olympics, laminated pouches were used for admission passes, and some parts of the credentials were affixed with optical labels.
In addition to being used in event venues, optical lamination pouches are commonly applied to personal ID documents like ID cards and driver’s licenses. These pouches ensure that personal information remains secure and tamper-proof.
Inner Core Materials of Laminate Pouches
The inner core materials of security laminate pouches are mainly divided into two categories: Teslin and Paper. Each material has unique properties and suitable applications.
Personalized information is printed onto the inner core using specialized printing equipment. Then use a pouch laminator to unite them into one, effectively protecting the data from tampering or damage.
Teslin Material
Teslin is a lightweight and thin material with excellent permeability. It is about 250 microns thick and can last up to 10 years. It is compatible with various printing methods and provides high durability.
When laminated with optical security laminate pouches, Teslin softens under heat, similar to EVA. This allows it to integrate seamlessly with the pouch and form one piece.
Teslin laminate pouches are typically the same size as the Teslin core, such as 86×54 mm or 85×55 mm. Teslin is widely used for high-security documents like ID cards and driver’s licenses due to its exceptional printing capabilities and long-lasting properties.
Paper Material
Paper cores are commonly used in large events, sports competitions, important conferences, and parking permits. Since paper is thicker and has no adhesive, the pouch is often slightly larger than the core.
The core, printed with personal information, is placed between two layers of PET laminate pouches. When heated and laminated, EVA glue bonds the layers, providing strong adhesion and meeting the security requirements of these events.
Application Scenarios for Different Inner Core Materials
- Teslin: Ideal for high-security documents such as ID cards and driver’s licenses, due to its durability and compatibility with various printing methods.
- Paper: Suitable for short-term use, such as event entry passes and sports credentials.
