As we all know, the safety of personal documents such as ID cards, driver’s licenses, and membership cards is crucial. Almost every year, various illegal activities involving forged identity documents are uncovered.
We also often receive requests from customers about the security of relevant identity documents. Our company has more than 20 years of research, design, and production experience, focusing on identity document protection based on micro-nano optical physical anti-counterfeiting methods.
Today, we will discuss four common identity security solutions with you. Our company (IMAGE TECH) has different types of products and applications, suitable for ID cards of different sizes and different materials (such as PVC, polycarbonate, Teslin, and other synthetic materials).
So for ID cards, we have four different product forms in total. Including patch laminate, seamless overlay, embedded laminate, and cold laminate.
First, let’s introduce patch laminate, it’s a two-layer film, one layer we all it carrier film and the other one is the pre-cut patch film.
And this pre-cut patch film loaded onto a specialized plastic core will be laminated to the ID card using a laminating machine. And the patch laminate is about 1mm smaller than the card at each side.
Seamless overlay, it is a little bit similar to a patch, but actually, they’re totally different. After lamination, the hologram pattern covers all sides (both sides) of the card. It looks like a whole with id card, and it is more good-looking. Edge to edge, so we call it seamless.
And we have another type, which we call embedded laminate. It’s used during the card production and lamination process. The hologram is inside the card body. So that’s why we call it embedded. Compared with a patch or overlay on the surface of the card, it’s inside the card body.
And then we have the final type, which we call cold laminate. It’s a thin film with adhesive on the back side. We can stick it on the card by hand for some remote areas and some border areas. More flexible applications.
Cold laminate is ideal for short-term use — perfect for items like VIP cards and student ID cards. But for the national ID card, some important government documents, we need to use the patch or embedded type.
So, is it clearer now that the anti-counterfeiting of identities? I also hope that this article will provide some help in what type of anti-counterfeiting products you choose for your project.
